York UK/April 2004/Press release/All Media/Bladder Health ForumThe York based Bladder Infection Association today announced the release of their new Bladder Health Forum, hosted at their website: http://www.bladder--infection.com John Bremner, one of the founders of the Bladder Infection Association said that knowledge is the key to health. "The new Bladder Health Forum is a place where people and patients can exchange ideas, learn from others, and swap stories. And they can do that anonymously, and even send private messages without anyone having their email address." The Bladder Infection Association has the aim of promoting bladder health throughout the world. Anna McNamara, the other founder of the Bladder Infection Association said "I agree that we should all take charge of our own health, particularly when some treatments may cause more harm than good. There are no antibiotics without side effects, and some of them have deadly side effects. The Bladder Health Forum is a good place for people to discuss their problems and find a better way forward." Currently, they have made available one specialist treatment called Waterfall D-Mannose ™, which treats cystitis and UTI's very successfully without the use of antibiotics, and has a much higher success rate than antibiotics for Escherichia coli. Waterfall D-Mannose is especially helpful for ridding the body of antibiotic resistant strains of E.coli, such as the deadly O157:H7. Patients who have tried the treatment are very enthusiastic about the results, and the Bladder Infection Association are sending the treatment to patients all over the world. Meanwhile GPs are just beginning to discover the treatment. Mr Bremner admits to receiving a few phone call from curious GPs. "Doctors in the UK are becoming curious, because they have these patients coming in telling them that they've cured their own bladder infection problems using Waterfall D-Mannose . The thing they can't ignore is the fact that this works better than antibiotics for 90% of bladder infections, and solves close to 100% of E.coli-based infections." He continued, "There is a good scientific principle behind the power of D-mannose. It works in a totally different way to antibiotics, by causing the E.coli to lose their grip on the bladder and urinary tract, allowing them to be flushed away through normal urination." It remains to be seen how the medical profession will respond. They can't prescribe Waterfall D-Mannose , because it's not a prescription drug - or even a drug at all (it's a rare sugar extratred from Larch wood). But they can quietly recommend it. In the USA, many doctors are already on board, but in the UK and Europe, they are still prescribing antibiotics for almost all bladder infections, despite growing resistance amongst pathogens and increasingly worrying reports of antibiotic side effects.
